There's no escaping the jaws of the alien this time (I knew Chris's out of this world sunglasses would come in useful!) Night creatures calling, the dead start to walk in their masquerade There are still too many people running round Yeovil in the evenings in head to toe black gear – do please break out the hi-viz we’d like you all to be able to keep joining us on a Saturday! With the clocks going back, it’s going to be darker, earlier. You're out of time - "Frankly" we'll discuss anything at our meeting. Let the Core team know by e-mailing We have a Core Team meeting this Wednesday – if there’s anything that you want us to discuss, again please let us know.īut all the while you hear the creature creeping up behind It would be good to have some “apprentices” come and help the core team Run Directors (talking to Ashton Court parkrun they have two run directors each week – so that if there is an incident out on course requiring the Run Director there is someone else at the finish area). If you’ve not done so already, “Opt In” to the volunteer e-mails (there will be a link at the bottom of your result e-mail) – we will get an e-mail sent out to the Volunteer group if there is a cancellation – in the same way that appeals are sent out on a Wednesday/Thursday if we’re short of help any given week!ĭo you fancy a go at being a Run Director? It’s good fun – and the sense of power when you have a megaphone in your hand is a-maz-ing!!! If you want to join the Montacute What’s App group, do send a text (with your name on it!) to Martin on 07929 054576. Please keep an eye on the Website and social media - even if that means checking on the morning of the run. With tales of forthcoming snow (can’t wait for that run!) and wintery weather, do be aware that we may need to cancel future runs – possibly at short notice. We had to unfortunately cancel last week due to high winds warning and whilst most of you had seen the notices, there were still about 40 runners who turned up – albeit that quite a lot of them turned round, went home and had a bacon sandwich, and some got “treated” to a magical mystery tour of Montacute – including a trip up St Michael’s Tower! (Jacko must have known about Martin's broomstick balancing trick!) You close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination, girl! You feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun There are about 150 – 200 photos each week for you to look at on the Flickr page – you can view these at *ĭetails of how you can take photos and add them to the Group are on our website News page. It would be good to have some more parkrun photographers each week – most weeks it’s only mine added to the Flickr page. Well done too to Ali Collier for her effort – it was a close run thing, which is why I put you as the Results page cover girl Ali! Hallowe’en costumes were to the fore – thank you all of those who came dressed for the occasion, you made it special! Well done in particular to Nicky Hayes for her costume – the practice paid off (those of us on the What’sApp group who got the picture of the “eyes” at 1045 on parkrun eve all struggled to sleep after!) - which won the prize for best costume judged by Mandy of the National Trust. The judging takes place - Congratulations Nicky (the broomstick attached to the bike probably swung it!) With the clocks going back this weekend, we ran the course in reverse – hope you all enjoyed running all the way up to the top of the Avenue – and down the Hill! It was a nice suggestion by one young lady that we reversed the results as well … though I’m sure she was in the top half of the field so she’d have been worse off!Īnd no one's gonna save you from the beast about strike You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it, You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes I can’t help but think there was a missed opportunity to recreate the Michael Jackson dance – but I will nick the Thriller lyrics for the photo captions! It was something of a “Thriller” over at Montacute this week, with a record 458 people who ran, jogged and walked the course. for about 2 minutes before you all arrived! You all missed the sunrise - the House was bathed a lovely warm pinky colour. T's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart
